The Outreachy December 2025 application is open!

The Outreachy application for the December 2025 internship cohort began 
on August 25th, 2025 with the application deadline on Sept 1st, 2025 at 
4pm UTC.

We encourage you to submit your application early!

Outreachy's goal is to increase diversity in open source. Outreachy 
provides internships to people subject to systemic bias and impacted by 
underrepresentation in the technical industry where they are living.

*About Outreachy*

Outreachy provides internships in open source to people subject to 
systemic bias and impacted by under-representation in the technical

Outreachy internships are:

  💵 Paid - $7,000 USD total internship stipend

  🌍 Remote - both interns and mentors work remotely

  🕰 3 months - internships run May to August, or December to March

Past Outreachy interns are:

  ♀️  92% women

  🌈 4% transgender, genderqueer, or non-binary people

     64% people of color

     12% people from a historically disadvantaged caste or tribe

*Schedule*

The timeline for the December 2025 internship cohort is:

Initial application period:

  - August 25th at 4pm UTC - Initial applications open

  - Sept 1st at 4pm UTC - Initial application deadline

Contribution period:

  - Oct 6th at  4pm UTC- Initial application results available

  - Oct 6th to Nov 3rd - Contribute to projects

  - Nov 3rd at 4pm UTC - Final application deadline

  Internship period:

  - Nov 19 at 4pm UTC - Accepted interns announced

  - Dec 8th 2025 to March 6th, 2026 - Internship period

*What’s Different This Round?*

Outreachy has several changes this cohort:

  * Additional Outreachy program activities during the internship will
    be changed or cut
  * Outreachy has set a policy that generative AI should not be used in
    initial applications
